PresidentThe Boss. You are responsible for the Society. With an able team around you the society can achieve great things and you are there to ensure that they have the resources they need. You will pitch in to help anyone who needs it as well as making sure tasks are being done. You also need to be able to zoom out and maintain perspective on situations as well as exercise your diplomacy skills to get the best out situations.
Lecture LeadThe role of lecture lead involves organising the academic lectures throughout the year, aimed at either clinical years, non-clinical years or both. You will need to liaise with other students, medical professionals, other societies and most likely PSQ faculty office. You will need to be organised in order to prepare beforehand for the lectures and making sure everyone is where they are meant to be and you should be collecting feedback from each lecture. As well as this, it is important to remember your role within the society as a helping hand for other positions. For example, you will need to give a helping hand throughout the conference run up.
Conference LeadThis is a new role that was created for this year (2016/17) and you have the exciting challenge of running the PUS conference. This is a brilliant role for 5th years, but anyone who is organised motivated and likes a challenge. In the early stages the clinical lead will assist you as much as possible and the whole committee pulls together to help you deliver an excellent conference. This is really great role for developing surgical contacts and building some impressive skills for your CV.

VP/TreasurerVice Presidency is one of the most exciting jobs on the committee. You'll have an active role in organising events, and you're the president's right hand in running the society. You're expected to step up and help any of the committee members when they're struggling to do their jobs. At PUS, this job comes with the responsibility of the treasury. For this, the society's bank account will be run by you, budgeting and sponsorships will be your job too. Very rewarding position and looks superb on your surgical CV! Apply now!
WinS RepYour job is to increase awareness of a surgical career among medical students. Everyone should be able to consider whether they want a surgical career regardless of background. You will organise events where a surgical career is demystified. You are also free to get creative with any ideas you have to help myth bust. You also liaise with the conference lead in the PUS conference build up

SecretaryThis role is to regularly check the society's email account and make sure the right people get the messages sent to them. You will be in charge of organising committee meetings, promoting intra- committee communication and taking minutes. In addition, I assist other committee members and I build contacts with clinicians for the society. Often working with the IT/Marketing Lead the secretary helps keep the society clued up and communicating.
Clinical LeadThe clinical skills lead requires organisation of surgical placement and surgical workshops. This year that including the suturing workshops and the cardiothoracic placements. This role also covers setting up the ISCE Mentors for 2nd year students. You also lend a helping hand to other committee members when needed particularly the conference lead.
Publicity and IT OfficerAs a Publicity and IT officer, your main role is to assist fellow committee members in designing and advertising their events on a multitude of platforms, e.g. Facebook, the PUS website, and even on university grounds (via printed posters). A skill set in design software, such as Photoshop and Illustrator is preferred and a background understanding of website design and maintenance would be helpful. However, don't shy away from this role if you're lacking experience in that field! The willingness to play around with the software and a little creative spark is all you need to do a great job!
